Training for educators, facilitators & emerging theatre makers.
THE THEATRE-MAKING INTENSIVE
Our Theatre Making Intensives run over two days and are aimed at emerging theatre-makers looking to develop or refresh their ensemble and devising skills and apply them to the making of their own work.

The first day will focus on TRAINING. We will look at developing our ensemble, physical theatre skills and devising skills - drawing on key exercises that the company uses to create its work. Alongside physical training, we will also look at how we can generate ideas for a show and collaborative ways of dissecting that idea to find the 'heat of it'
The second day will focus on MAKING. We will use the techniques developed from day one as a foundation to gradually begin to devise with. We will lead you through a series of creative tasks, such as creating character, creative writing, improvisation and choreography, which will enable you to generate a wealth of material to reflect on, develop and refine.

It will be a rigorous and fun two days that will provide you with useful tools and learnings to take forward into your own creative practice.

There are no upcoming dates for The Theatre Making Intensive.
Updates will be shared on our website, social media and in our newsletter.

This 2 hour online workshop is aimed at Drama Teachers and Facilitators working with KS4/5 students in schools and educational settings.

This workshop will equip teachers with a series of devising tools and techniques to take back to the classroom and support their students in their own devised theatre-making. Through pre-recorded videos, presentations and interactive discussions, we will unpack some of the key exercises The Wardrobe Ensemble use to make its work. We will look at how to generate new material, develop discussions, create narrative structure and make visually exciting theatrical moments. Taken together, we hope to provide an informative, thoughtful and enriching theatre workshop that provides teachers with an insight into the company’s methodology, which they can incorporate into their own teaching.

After this workshop you will:
-
Have a good understanding of The Wardrobe Ensemble’s devising process.
-
Be able to lead five devising tasks with your students in a socially distanced classroom.
-
Develop your own devising language and best practice for running a room.
This workshop also includes:
-
A teaching resource pack, detailing each exercise discussed in the workshop and an outline of the company process.
-
Pre-recorded videos of our exercises and company interviews.
